Day 43: Stylish feathery hat

Day 43 – Another gorgeous #‎hatONit‬ from Ivan that made me feel so stylish at the office and watching Game of Thrones today. Today is Father’s Day and I want to celebrate my father, Peter Moore-Kochlacs. He supports my dreams, from career to home decor (see his recent posts refinishing Eames dining chairs for me)….

Day 42: Incredible parrot hat

Day 42 – Completely incredible parrot ‪#‎hatONit‬ from Lisa and Avery! Rocked it to the office and to a bonfire to celebrate Franne visiting from the other side of the world. I’ve missed her! I got a new backpack today and as I was transferring stuff, I noticed the items my cancer has added to…

Day 41: Cat hat

Day 41: Cat in the ‪#‎hatONit‬ with this ears and tail headband from Courtney! Another full day of pilates, trying to progress towards a thesis, and after work, enjoying the good weather in our front yard. Pictured, me after flopping on the couch when I first got home. Couches are the best. Some wonder to…

Day 40: Sailor hat

Day 40: Sailor #hatONit‬ from Lisa! Today’s picture is from an impromptu break in the beautiful courtyard across the street from my office, brought on by a fire alarm. I had my first opportunity to be the caregiver, not the patient, for Austin at the hospital this evening. He had a minor bike mishap and…

Day 39: Classy hat

Day 39: I got so caught up in working today, I almost forgot to take a selfie with this great #hatONit‬ from Ivan! I think I’ve mentioned that there’s a lot to be done in 5.5 weeks before my defense and I was really feeling that today. Fortunately, after some morning nausea, I had the…

Day 38: Swirly cool mesh hat

Day 38: Lisa found me this swirly cool mesh #hatONit‬ that may be a sleeping cap, but I wore it out and about. It was a slow morning getting past the residual nausea. Once I made it out of the house and got to the office, I was energized by all the science there is…

Day 37: Vintage black hat

Day 37 – A vintage black #hatONit‬. Five days post-chemo I felt well enough to run some nearby errands but didn’t make it to work; the feeling good enough was intermittent. I spent today between doing, feeling nauseous, and mourning. The online ritual of mourning a mass shooting is too familiar to me. I read…

Day 36: Leopard trilby

Day 36 – A leopard trilby #hatONit‬ warmed my head today. My energy and nausea were improved but still feeling pretty low. I spent much of the day mostly decluttering around the house, tiring myself, watching some TV, and then puttering again. A good night’s sleep should have me functional for work tomorrow. My hands…

Day 35: Green vintage hat

Day 35 – Aka sleepy post-chemo day 3, in a vintage #hatONit‬ I bought years ago for a NYE party Daniel threw. Today I perked up for a few hours which was nice, not massive energy but got in some hat crafting and hanging out with the Loves. My energy is still low and I…

Day 34: Comfy crochet hat

Day 34 – Another very sleepy post-chemo day, with this comfy crochet #hatONit made for me by Jessi. I’ve been asleep more than awake today but in between naps caught a bit of Muhammad Ali’s memorial service on TV. What an inspirational life Ali lead, living his values and speaking truth to power. $13,376! 126…

Day 33: Wolf hat

Day 33 – Slept most of today, wearing a wolf #hatONit‬ from Jake. Very comfy, especially while sleeping on Austin’s shoulder while we waited for my day after chemo shot. The nurse taught us how to give me the shot at home, so next round I don’t have to drag myself out of the house…

Day 32: Amazing alien antenna

Day 32 – Early update from the hospital. Great scan result!!! It’s a “mixed result” but good: no new lesions, all lesions except one are stable or decreased in size/activity. One small liver lesion is bigger, but lots of possible reasons for that, so not a big concern. And largest liver lesion is smaller! Austin,…
